The work moves between two events in time, in two distant geographies, retracing their interconnectedness. Both of these events centre around two "Miracles", and both of these "Miracles" refer to two engineered rice seeds.
The first one revisits the Japanese Empire seed engineering project in colonial Taiwan, from 1895 to 1945, named Horai Rice, also known as the Japanese Miracle Rice. The second one looks at its mirrored miracle trajectories elsewhere, the so called "Miracle Rice" of the "Green Revolution" of the 1960s.
