The City That Was Not Supposed To Be On The Map
Qyteti që s'duhej të ishte në hartë
2023, Short Documentary, 11:13
Albania/Netherlands
Against all the odds of geographical epistemics of law which always stands against the inhabitant of the city of Kamza, such as the map, the territory, the border, this film reads Kamza, - a city made by its own inhabitants after the 90s - as a radical geography of spatial justice.
Produced as a result of fieldwork in the neighborhood of Bathore and Paskuqani, the film osciallates between the seats of the van, — whose driver refuses to navigate through a city the existence of which he denies, —to the self made bridge built and rebuilt by the hands of the newcomers to connect the edge of Kamza with the city of Tirana.
Field work conducted with Diana Malaj, Elsa Paja, Büşra Dilaver and Holly Dale
Facilitated by Grupi ATA (Kamza, AL) & Nebi Bardhoshi (Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Art Studies in Tirana, AL)
Soundtrack for the trailer: "Magjistari OZ" by Killua
